Key question:
If we take seriously as a necessary condition for a living democracy that togetherness is not primarily the bond of family, clan, tribe or nation, but the togetherness of diversity, then we have to ask not only how to deal with migration, but much more: can we do without migration at all?

…………

Conditions:
If we look at what has been called history so far, as well as at our current political, economic and ecological situation, and consider how to work on the most pressing problems, the answer is definitely no, we cannot renounce migrating! Migration, understood as the concrete unfolding of togetherness in its diverse needs and cultural values.

…………

Group to activate:
Acquisition of participants in cooperation with cultural organisations and communities targeting different groups of migrants.

…………

Methodical Approach:
We work on two intertwined levels: the survey and the object: From where? When? Why? What (was taken)?

Each student chose three people he or she knew who had experienced a migration process to Frankfurt am Main.

The student could be one of these people, or their parents, grandparents, or someone they know by chance.

These are the questions of the survey that lead to a physical object:

  • What is the person's first name?

  • Where is the person from?

  • When did the person arrive and why?

  • What physical object did the person bring with them as a movable part of their home country

More information regarding the methodical approach can be found here.
