exhibition design, information graphics or Narrative Publications
With information about where they came from and where they are now, you have the spatial and temporal coordinates for your design.
You also have the object they brought with them, in a very concrete sense, the objectification of the individual story. Something you keep because it contains your most precious memories.
The overall task is twofold:
Firstly, to create ideas, sketches and scale models for a permanent or temporary space where,
secondly, the reality of being in the process of migration becomes an aesthetic reality.
In other words, it is about the physical space and its content in terms of information and narrative.
Using the terminology of the design profession, we can say that the phenomenon of the collective reality of migration can be captured in the form of "information design", the individual reality of migration in the form of poetic aestheticization.
As you can see, the second part of the overall task is also twofold: Either information design, which unfolds the common situation, or narrative artefacts, which spin the individual threads.
It follows that you need to decide in which area you want to work:
1. ideas, sketches, detailed plans and scale models for a permanent or temporary space announced as a museum, relating to exhibition design and interior design.
2. work on information graphics, which can be two-dimensional, programmed, transformed into a film, created as a sculpture, etc.
3. the creation of narrative publications, for which it is necessary to find the appropriate means and media, presupposing a methodological approach such as that proposed in the Disegno Lectures.
In all these areas, you will work with the spatial coordinates of the migratory movements and their respective dates, on the one hand, and with the design elements you will obtain by deconstructing the objects brought by the people you have chosen, on the other.
How to proceed in order to deconstruct the respective objects (the physical objects as well as the temporal objects or other types of objects) is the subject of the accompanying course "AMT-01 Methodology 4-8".
